Quoting an elderly whom I respect - he's a lawyer by training, was once the man at the helm of our national airline during its glory and was once one of the few professionals in the early days who were instrumental in drafting the NEP and Constitution of Malaysia during Allahyarham Tun Abdul Razak's days - well he confirmed Article I-can't-remember-which of the Constitution of Malaysia stated that Government officers must use Malay in their communications, but there is no compulsion on the Private sector to use Malay.

I was just sent back by a government officer to re-write my letter in Malay!!!

Huwaaa!!!!

Not that I lupa daratan, but my written Malay is like a Sekolah Menengah Malay, in fact during secondary school I used to write better Malay. But 'tis better now, only that I write slow.

Oits! Of course I speak Malay but my spoken Malay is the colloquial Malay, very not the polished. Macam tak ada class Malay. But I like to speak Malay. :op

New year resolution: polish my written Malay.
